Foundations Magazine is a platform created to give a voice to people experiencing homelessness in South Carolina. Our articles seek inform the community, give humanity back to a marginalized population, and encourage empathy. By providing resources to learn about homelessness, we hope to spark change in people's perceptions of these vulnerable members of our society. Meet Our Contributors
Layne Scopano

Layne is a Biochemistry and Spanish double major at the University of South Carolina. Her interest in homelessness comes from teaching poetry classes at a local shelter. She hopes to one day tackle the inequalities that face displaced persons in their access to healthcare. By providing a platform for people experiencing homelessness to share their stories and for community members to gain education about the issue, she hopes to inspire empathy.
Kwame Kennedy

Kwame is a Chemistry major with a Creative Writing minor at the University of South Carolina. He wants to give people experiencing homelessness a voice. He hopes that this magazine gives humanity back to a historically marginalized population

Bella studies Soical Work and Spanish at the University of South Carolina. Her goa to provide safety and restoration for oppressed communities fuels her work with people experiencing homelessness. With a passion for healing through creative outlets, Bella seeks to promote intergroup dialogue by empowering and celebrating people's unique stories.

Katelyn is a Public Health, B.S. major and a Spanish minor at the University of South Carolina. She hopes that through greater awareness and access of information, every student can have access to free, public education and services in order to achieve academic success
